제주의 서쪽, 투명하고 아름다운 금능해변을 따라 금능리 마을에 다다라 처음 마주친 대지는 호리병모양의 형태를 하고 있었고, 좁은 대지 입구를 지나 안으로 들어가 마주친 넓은 텃밭에서는 아늑하면서 동시에 탁트인 개방감을 느낄 수 있었다.  기존의 대지는 이처럼 긴 모양을 따라 안으로 들어가면서 겹겹이 서로 다른 켜들을 갖고 있었고, 우리는 이곳에 만들어질 공간도 그러한 흐름을 갖게 하고 싶었다. 바깥세상에서 다른 세상으로 가는 것과 같은, 복잡하고 번잡스러운 세상에서 자연과 휴식이 있는, 그럼으로써 나에게 집중할 수 있는 공간으로의 진입. 이것이 휴식을 위한 공간으로서 류월이 땅에 앉혀지는 방식이었다.

이를 위해 류월 내부로 향하는 길은 외부에서 보이지 않는다. 돌담과 거친 콘크리트가 그대로 노출된 벽으로 둘러싸이고, 밟을때 마다 소리가 나는 쇄석이 깔린 바닥을 걸어 대지의 가장 깊은 곳으로 들어가서야 입구를 만날 수 있다. 가장 제주스러운 재료인 현무암돌담과 쇄석, 그리고 시간이 지나면서 자연스런 때가 묻기를 기대하는 거친 콘크리트를 통해 가장 ‘자연’ 스러운 공간으로 인식되기를 바랬다.

그렇게 입구를 지나 공간 안으로 들어오면 공간은 침실을 포함한 모든 실이 투명한 외피로 감싸져 있고, 이 개방된 외피를 통해 작은 음지식물과 돌담으로 둘러싸인 마당을 마주하게 된다.  오픈형 주방에는 빈티지 라운드 식탁과 조명이 정적이고도 고요한 분위기를 내고, 한쪽에는 실내 자쿠지가 마당과 이어진다. 큰 창으로 가득 드는 빛, 그리고 그 빛으로 만들어지는 그림자가 공간 전체에 공존한다. 중앙의 원형 계단으로 올라가면 류월만의 아이덴티티를 가장 잘 담은 원형의 2층 다락이 펼쳐진다. 사방으로 탁 트인 개방감을 갖는 2층에서는 1층과 달리 바다와 하늘 그리고 한라산이 보이는 원경 이라는 다른 방식의 자연을 마주할 수 있다.

류월에서는 다양한 계절에 다양한 방식으로 정적인 휴식을 상상한다. 봄에는 소파에 앉아 멍하니 마당의 식물을 바라보며 생각을 비워내고, 좋은 책과 음악으로 다시 에너지를 채운다. 여름에는 근처 금능해변에서 수영을 즐기고 와 낮잠을 즐긴다. 가을에는 청명한 하늘과 단풍을 올려다보며 차를 즐긴다. 겨울에는 자쿠지 속 따뜻한 물에 몸을 낮춰 담아 제주의 하늘을 만끽한다.

To the west of Jeju, the land, which first encountered the village of Geumnung-ri along the transparent and beautiful Geumnung Beach, was shaped like a rock bottle, and the wide vegetable garden, which passed through the narrow entrance of the land, was cozy and open at the same time. The existing land had layers of different lights as it followed this long shape, and we wanted to make the space to be created here have that flow. Entering into a space where I can concentrate on myself by doing so, with nature and relaxation in a complex was placed on the ground as a space for relaxation.

To this end, the road to the interi outside. The stone walls and rough concrete are surrounded by exposed walls, and you can only meet the entrance by walking on the floor with the sound of rock-clothes whenever you step on it to enter the deepest part of the earth. It was hoped that the most Jeju-like materials, basalt stone walls and rocks, and rough concrete, which expects natural times to be buried over time, would be recognized as the most "natural" place.

So as you walk through the entrance and into the space, the space is surrounded by a transparent outer covering of all the threads, including the bedroom, and through this open outer shell, you face a yard surrounded by small shade plants and stone walls. In the open kitchen, vintage round tables and lights create a still atmosphere, while on one side, indoor Jacuzzi connects with the yard. A light filled with a large window, coexist throughout the space. If you go up the circular staircase in the center, you will see a circular two-story attic that best captures RyuWol's identity. Unlike the first floor, the second floor, which has a sense of openness in all directions, offers a different way of facing nature: the sea, the sky, and the distant view of Mt. Halla.

RyuWol imagines static relaxation in various ways in different seasons. In spring, sitting on the sofa, staring blankly at the plants in the yard, emptying their thoughts, and replenishing their energy with good books and music. In summer, enjoy swimming and taking a nap at the nearby Geumeung beach. In autumn, people enjoy tea while looking up at the clear sky and autumn leaves. In winter, people enjoy the sky of Jeju Island by lowering themselves in warm water in the Jacuzzi.
