The site where Haman Regional Childcare Center [오전1] was to be built is located in a well-organized complex facing green areas such as trees and gardens on all sides. On one side, in particular, it faces an large, open playground for residents' daily usage. The playground is surrounded by trees and covered with grass such that residents with children could use it for various purposes including daily exercises and strolls. Therefore, the plan of building a regional childcare center naturally began with establishing a connection with the external spaces along with the playground.

The connection between the regional childcare center ways. The first is by raising the first-floor level above the playground. In this way, children can have a wide view of the playground and can be protected from any activities such as soccer and gate ball played on the playground without a separate fence.

The second is by building a single large roof. This roof blocks the sunlight, creates a shadow on the first floor, and covers rains. Regardless of the weather, the inner and outer spaces on the first floor can be used freely.

Regional childcare center has a transparent and open spatial structure on all four sides. It is open towards the playground along with surrounding green areas and fields. In addition, large windows are placed in the study rooms on the second floor for children to see big green trees through the windows.

The center has several floor levels. Instead of being divdied into the first and second floors, the floors are divided into the first floor, first-floor tech level, and second floor. Each level provides various spaces for different activities. Through these levels, children will be able to participate in more creative activities.

In addition, the center has a variety of external spaces. The inner space is expanded to the roof-covered terrace on the first floor, creating a shadow in the summer and a shelter during rains. The second-floor terrace with wide-open surroundings is connected to the study rooms on the second floor and can be used as an outdoor classroom. These outside spaces are connected by various routes.

This regional childcare center is created primarily for children, but it will also serve as a point of contact for local residents. The residents and elderly using the playground could sit and rest at the center’s terrace to keep out of the sun and meet children here.

This space is intended to be built with an open relationship with the regional areas through transparency and openness. In addition, it is intended to be built as a space to be shared by the children and regional residents with the design of multi-leveled inner and outer spaces with a roof.

This plan is aimed at creating a contact point between the regional childcare center and the regional area through visual and physical methods. This is grounded on the belief that raising healthy children requires the attention and communication of the entire regional community.
